City of Nottingham - Facts and Information


The city of Nottingham is perhaps such a recognizable name to many by its connections with the legend of Robin Hood. There have been many movies depicting Robin Hood and his devotion to the ordinary citizens of Nottingham and its surrounding areas. This is perhaps why Nottingham is as easy a name to recognize as it is to so many people.

Nottingham plays home to several universities including studies in varied subjects and housing some 40,000 students. There are also noted fashion designers that have come out of Nottingham's School of Fashion like the famous designer Paul Smith. Nottingham also houses an extremely old education establishment Nottingham High School which was founded in 1513.

The cities ever expanding culture is not one to be taken lightly. The city offers a number of various theatres along with music venues. It also plays hosts to large festival gatherings including the annual Goose Fair which is one of the largest fairs in the country. Also interestingly enough Nottingham is knows for offering and being part of a large alternative scene for teenagers.

Nottingham city also offers quite an array of fun and entertainment. It houses a rather large 2,500 capacity concert hall that attracts all sorts of the most popular names in music. The performances are definitely worth attending while in Nottingham. Also interesting enough Nottingham plays home to one of the last Turkish Bath houses in the UK.

As you can see Nottingham has something to offer all of its travelers no matter what side of the world you happen to come from. There are museums to visit, concerts to attend, eateries to explore, and even relaxing bath houses that are almost gone from the world. It is a place to relax, enjoy, and indulge yourself in anything you find adequate.
